Patriots Sign Brian Hoyer
Just two days after trading backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the New England Patriots have signed Brain Hoyer. Hoyer, who was just cut by the San Francisco 49ers following their addition of Jimmy G, backed up Tom Brady from 2009 to 2011. The deal is for three years. This move makes sense, as Hoyer is a very cheap option and already has a basic understanding of the Patriots' offense, after spending three seasons with them. Hoyer is no Jimmy, but will certainly serve as a solid backup, continuing the Patriots' theme of having a very good quarterback situation.
