Week 10 College Football Playoff Rankings

Yet another week of college football has come and gone, and it went as expected: very unpredictable. There were upsets, blowouts, and top teams struggling vs inferior opponents. But lets get right into the rankings. I came up with these records using teams records, schedules, and numbers such as efficiency ratings.

25. West Virginia (5-3) 24. UCF (7-0)

23. Washington State (6-2)

22. Arizona (6-2)

21. Michigan State (6-2)

20. Mississippi State (6-2)

19. North Carolina State (6-2)

18. LSU (6-2)

17. Stanford (6-2)

16. USC (6-2)

15. Auburn (6-2)

14. Washington (7-1)

13. Iowa State (6-2)

12. Virginia Tech (7-1)

11. Miami (7-0)

Now, here is where it gets interesting.

10. Penn State (7-1): They have yet to beat a quality opponent, and the blown lead in Columbus is problematic. But they still have the Heisman winner.

9. Wisconsin (8-0): Sure, they've beat everyone on their schedule. But that isn't saying much. This team's best win... Northwestern. Yikes.

8. Oklahoma State (7-1): The West Virginia game featured great defense, and that what this team was lacking. The offense is elite

7. Texas Christian (7-1): Ames, Iowa is a very tough place to play. Other than that, they have taken care of business nicely. The next two weeks, when OKST-OU and then TCU-OU play, the Big 12 picture will be clearer.

6. Ohio State (7-1): That was a nice win at home, against a team that may not be as dominant as we think. I'm just not sold on the Big 10. Their entire conference has only one win against a Top 25 opponent.

5. Oklahoma (7-1): I don't think they will be here for long, but they have only lost to my #13 team Iowa State, and beat AP #3 Ohio State on the road. I don't know why Ohio State is getting more love than them at the moment.

4. Notre Dame (7-1): This Notre Dame team is legit. Not only do they play a tough schedule, they dominate a tough schedule, easily beating Mich State, NC State, and USC. That one point home loss to Georgia isn't looking too bad.

3. Georgia (8-0): Two SEC teams won't make the playoff, and I'm betting Bama is going to handle Georgia. But, that win at Notre Dame is looking pretty good. I don't love Georgia because of their schedule, and I think they should've lost at Notre Dame, but they didn't, and thats why their are here and not between OU and Ohio State.

2. Clemson (7-1): Clemson is the red headed stepchild of the college football universe. Auburn: win, AT Virginia Tech, win, National Championship last year, win. I don't know if they will be able to navigate the rest of the ACC, as teams like NC State and their opponent in the ACC championship (if they get there) will pose a legit threat, but if they win out, they're in.

1. Alabama (8-0): Enough said. They're on a completely different level.

This week we have Bama vs LSU, NCST vs Clemson, and OKST vs OU. I'll be in Stillwater for that game. It should be a hell of a weekend in college football, and the playoff picture will either become decently clear, or really messy. I'd say anyone in the Top 12 has a legit shot.
